But technology has changed that. One of our reviewers actually taught himself a new language just from using tapes and software while the rest of them used the newly available technologies to "brush up" on languages they already had a base in (either from school or some other source).

It's going to take discipline but the tools that we've reviewed here will definitely make it possible - you just have to supply the practice time. But if you have a commute to work or spend a lot of time in the car or on the computer - you now have no excuse.
