Full Review

Two of the biggest issues people fail to consider before making a purchase is stealth technology and the effects of anti-virus, firewall, and anti-spyware software on their ability to continue to monitor without any problems.

Some products truly are invisible and others most definitely are not. Most of the monitoring products we tested either never recorded a thing or were stopped in their tracks by anti-virus, Firewall, and/or anti-spyware software after a varying amount of time. Some managed to run for a couple of months, but eventually, almost everyone got nailed. Scary stuff if you're trying to monitor someone invisibly.

We get mountains of email from people who have purchased software to monitor someone only to quickly become frustrated when their program fails to deliver what it promised.

Some of the developers (such as Spectorsoft) do a good job of playing the cat and mouse game, and are pretty quick to re-hide their program once it gets caught by the major anti-virus applications, but even they get flagged by some of the more prevalent anti-virus applications out there. If stealth is a major issue for you WebWatcher may be your best bet. They have developed a unique solution to the anti-virus problem.

WebWatcher claims that their invisibility technology was developed by former NSA (National Security Agency) programmers. Whether that is true or not we can not say, but what we can say is that WebWatcher is totally invisible. We had our tech team dig deep inside of the computer and the could not find any trace of the application. There are no files anywhere to be found and it does not appear in the process list, registry, system tray, task manager, on the Desktop, or in Add/Remove Programs. It also never pops anything up or notifies the person using the computer that the software is there.

When you begin the install process, WebWatcher will actually conduct a scan of the machine you'll be monitoring to detect any anti-virus, firewall, and anti-spyware software that is on that machine in order to check for any conflicts.

Another thing we should mention here is that WebWatcher offers a free service that will be of great interest to most readers, particularly those who aren't very computer savvy.

You can have a remote technician install WebWatcher for you over the Internet in a few minutes. At first couldn't believe that they could afford to do this for all of their customers since it is a free service, but we put them to the test at all times of day (even at 3am!) and they did indeed install our software for free.

It is actually kind of fun as you can chat with the tech in a chat window and watch them as they install the software for you.
